Beyond Waiting
Glancing beyond the person in front of me, I impatiently scan each clerk, assessing which lane is the fastest.
Can you relate or is it just me?
Waiting can be frustrating. Yet at times, life puts us in “holding zones.” Perhaps God gave you a dream, but the timing wasn’t right, so you sit and wait. You diligently learn, grow, and prepare. Then you wait and wait while fighting the drift from eager anticipation to settling. Time takes its toll, and you lose the inner fire to make your dream come true. The dream that was once a blazing forest now resembles a flickering tea light in your soul.
The waiting is not your destination.
Much like the gas line that moves so slowly, then you look up, and suddenly there is a large gap between you and the car ahead of you. Have you been waiting so long for others to move that you can’t even recognize when it’s your turn? Has waiting became your new normal that taking action seems too scary or too big?
It is time to fight for your dreams.
The waiting is over, and it’s time to make your move. Go back and retrace your steps and create a new action plan. Don’t let your dreams die. Many people quit somewhere between waiting and reaching their destination. They give up because it takes too long, seems impossible, or requires too much work. Or maybe the gap between the spark of the dream and fruition feels like the Grand Canyon. Don’t just dream -follow through, no matter the cost.
Don’t stop.
Remember what stirred your passion in the first place. Surround yourself with people who are moving forward and get back in the game. Move beyond the waiting room. This is your moment to do the very thing God placed in your heart so long ago. Rise up -the waiting is over.
