Welcoming your first baby marks a profound shift, and witnessing your child tie the knot signifies yet another significant milestone. Whether you’re embarking on the journey of motherhood or transitioning out of its daily rigors, change remains the steadfast companion in life’s journey.

YOU’RE PREGNANT!

I vividly recall the moment I peed on the stick, and it turned blue. (Yes, I am that old, that it was a blue line revealing you were pregnant.) I was petrified, pondering how drastically my life would alter and what sacrifices parenthood might demand. I clung to familiarity, to the life I knew before the pitter-patter of tiny feet. It was comfortable. I treasured my freedom, bustling social calendar, and cherished career.

Bringing our first child home from the hospital initiated a profound shift. It felt as though my life had spun on its axis, veering in an entirely new direction.

Now, fast forward twenty-six years, and once again, the winds of change sweep through my life. One daughter has exchanged vows, another son has ventured further south in Mexico for his missionary work, yet another daughter has embraced motherhood herself, and my middle daughter is returning home to pursue a passion in construction. (By ‘home,’ I mean my parents’ house, as we’re currently residing in Mexico.)

The whirlwind of life envelops my family.

In embracing change, I find solace in the anticipation of what lies ahead. If only I could reassure that apprehensive young woman from twenty-six years ago of the joys motherhood would bring, perhaps her nerves would have eased. If only she knew the incredible life that lay ahead.

As a new season dawns on the horizon, revel in the journey, for life’s tapestry is woven with both peaks and valleys.

While we may not control the impending shifts, we can embrace them with resilience. Trust in the path God has set forth, knowing that each step is divinely ordained. Once the initial climb is conquered, the view from the summit is breathtakingly beautiful. Keep forging ahead. Journal, pray and surround yourself with faith filled friends.

Every new season elicits a spectrum of emotions; lean into each moment with unwavering resolve.

Your brightest days are not behind you; seize the present and live life to its fullest.
